Blue Scales Textile Fading Card

This Blue Scales Textile Fading Card is a standard method of testing for the effects of light on paintings, textiles and documents while on display. Eight pieces of wool cloth tinted with blue dyes of different degrees of light fastness are mounted on a card. Cover one half of the card and monitor changes to exposed surfaces of wool strips. If a change occurs, rotate the objects on display or adjust the intensity of illumination.
